#5 - The rope
Season 6 - Episode 3 - Aired 11/25/2014
Jean and Servier intend to take advantage of the arrest of Antoine and Suzanne to negotiate with the resistance fighters and the Departmental Committee for the Liberation (C.D.L.) certain guarantees of protection. Marie, separated from the Americans after the attack on their convoy by the Germans, is captured and taken to Villeneuve where reprisals are organized following the attack on the leader of the militia and the German officers.

Daniel, assisted by Lucienne, treats the wounded of the German unit taking refuge at the school, in order to save his skin and that of Gustave. During this time, De Kervern, the new prefect, tried as best he could to enforce the authority of the Provisional Government among the resistance fighters and the C.D.L. The challenge: drive out the last Germans and take control of Villeneuve.

September 1944: the Germans left Villeneuve but a group of militiamen still holds hostages in the school. While the Headmaster Jules Bériot, arrives to try to secure the surrender of the militiamen, resisters are divided on what will happen to them. Between desire for justice and revenge, the Liberation looks tense.

September 1944: After the surrender of the militiamen and the impossibility of transporting them to their trial to Besancon, Bériot decides to start a court martial in Villeneuve school. He asks Antoine and Suzanne accompany Anselme as judges, while Edmond is appointed Daniel Larcher prosecutor and defense lawyer. As the trial agrees on what will happen to each militiaman Bériot receives the order from his superior to fake trial.
