Yi Geum spends a night in front of the King’s palace, apologizing. However, Yi Tan warns Yi Geum to stay still so that he can destroy him by himself. Meanwhile, Mun Su comes to know that Dal Moon was the one who betrayed the Crown Prince.
#2 - The Crown Prince’s Repentance Ritual

The King orders the Crown Prince to start his vicarious governing in rage, and the Crown Prince is heart-broken. He starts his repentance ritual with a repentance letter hoping the King will change his mind. However, Prince Mil Poong adds more to the storm that’s shifting the atmosphere of the palace.

Due to one hideous note that was scattered around the streets of Hanyang, people’s distrust in His Majesty intensifies. Patients at the Hwalinseo refuse to be treated and more are demanding to open up the gates to escape the city. His Majesty visits the Hwalinseo to console the patients and promise to bring a cure to the plague. As soon as he gets back to the Royal Palace, he orders the Royal Infirmary to prescribe the same antidote that cured the Cheongju disease. Will the plague come to an end?

King Yeongjo announces to hold a public conversation. It’s a special event in which the king goes out to the streets to hear the people. Through such events, King Yeongjo continues to strive in being a truthful king to his people and to the kingdom.

Prince Mil Poong marches into the palace all by himself. Causing a ruckus in the middle of the royal court, Yeongjo rushes in to see him. After an outcry of dismay in admitting his defeat in front of the King, he kills himself. The other rebels including Yi In Jwa and Wi Byung Ju are ordered to be beheaded in public as well.

#9 - The King Versus The Officials
Season 1 - Episode 46 - Aired 4/29/2019
Saheonbu pushes on a joint investigation despite of what the King had ordered. Many senior officials do not agree to the King’s new reform for the kingdom. Few officials including Yi Gwang Jwa and Cho Hyun Myung support the king and try to find ways to buy the people’s hearts.
#10 - An Old Hope
Season 1 - Episode 45 - Aired 4/29/2019
Yi In Jwa is captured and Yeongjo proclaims a new order within the palace. He orders new positions to Namins, the party related to the rebellion and the order stirs an outrage from the Sorons and Norons. Will a fair and equal placement in senior official positions work during Yeongjo’s era?

The rebellions are continuing their fight, and so is the royal army. After a notice that there could be spies from the rebellion in the royal army, Inspector Park tests something out. During a strategy meeting he says the army should go to Jiksan, but takes his men to Anseong for an ambush attack.

Yeongjo is feeling ashamed to be the one left at the palace, when all his loyal servants and innocent citizens are being sacrificed. He thinks of what he could do as king, and comes up with a solution. He will meet with the Namins and reform the nation’s division between the political parties.

The rebellions take over Cheongju and other regions start to charge their way to the capital. People are fleeing to save their lives from this revolt. However, in the palace many men including Mun Su are courageously pulling themselves together to protect the King, and the nation.

The plague is well eradicated, but the King senses a move of rebellion. He thinks the rebellions brought this plague as well. The King brings back his trusted men, Yi Gwang Jwa and Cho Hyun Myung to the palace to assure security and find out about this rebel group.

Season 1 - Episode 36 - Aired 4/9/2019
Despite the opposition, Yeongjo becomes the 21st king of Joseon. However, to his disbelief, Cho Hyun Myung and Park Mun Su hand in their resignation. Immediately, he questions Min Jin Heon's meddling and confronts him about his intentions of having him hold hands with Noron. Meanwhile, a mysterious person pours something in a well.
#17 - The Rights to Become a King

King Gyeongjong dies, and rumors follow blaming the Crown Prince for his indifference and death. The palace is outraged and demands the Queen Dowager to find justice to his death. With speculations and oppositions, Soron splits into two. One supports Chief Justice Jo Tae Koo who opposes the Crown Prince, and the other who supports Yi Gwang Jwa that does. Meanwhile, military agencies show unusual movements.
#18 - King Gyeongjong’s Death

The Crown Prince tries everything he can to save the King’s life. Mun Su and Master Yoon Hyuk even visit Prince Mil Poong and Wi Byung Ju to find what went behind. #19 - Prince Mil Poong’s Poison

King Gyeongjong is severely ill and the Crown Prince suspects the Royal Infirmary. Tracking down some hints, he finds out Prince Mil Poong is behind it all. His Majesty’s condition is only getting worse, but it’s up to the Crown Prince to make a choice in taking responsibility or not.

#23 - Decisive Battle 2

Min Jin Heon steps up during the Special Judiciary Agency and sides with the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince is saved from being crucified when he’s done no crime. As soon as he’s released, the Crown Prince heads out to the city to see Dal Moon, who’s been siding with Prince Mil Poong.

The new Section Chief of Personnel, Yoon Hyuk announces a new personnel appointment. He’ll be doing a re-evaluation of all officials and re-position their ranks according to their previous corruption records. The whole palace is under panic, and the King receives a disastrous letter from an unknown source.
